How to take the free ferry to Statue of Liberty?
This may sound funny, but a lot of people end up PAYING for the free ferry to the Statue of Liberty and waiting hours for a boat ride that goes out every 20 minutes .
To get to the Staten Island ferry, you have to go to White Hall terminal, which is downtown Manhattan . If you’re not sure how to get there from your hotel, just click White hall terminal on Google maps and it will tell you.
But that’s not the problem .
The problem is when you’re trying to go on a free ride, & there will be people that will try to sell you tickets for the boat ride. That is not the free ferry. They will tell you need tickets.
You do not need any Physical ticket to go on the ferry, nor an electronic one .
The boat salesman that are right outside the Staten Island ferry will try to sell you on boat ride that are around the island, which are not necessarily bad, but that is also not what you came to do. The big difference is Staten Island ferry will only take you to see the statue. You will also see the view of New York of course, but it won’t take you around the island like the other boats do.
If you JUST decided that you want to take a ride around the island so I recommend you to go online and find the fairs that fit your budget because sometimes they give you a price that they are comfortable with which is not necessarily the most affordable. You are being put on the spot since you’re already there.
A super popular cruise around the island is Circle Line, if you’re in a real tight budget, I recommend going to Groupon. They have boat rides that are super affordable and you see just as much as everyone else.
